Baby Play Space: Before and After

I recently made a transition of Therese’ play space on the second floor. In the beginning, I was planning to do Montessori style (open space) so that Therese can explore whatever and wherever she wants. But as she became more mobile, she would frequently left the playmat to get close to some “danger zone”, even though we put pillows around the playmat, she could still “escape” easily. Then, we decided to get baby fence for the living room play space, and it’s working very well so far. We were worried earlier whether she would be upset, but she’s happy in her play space with the fence.

Before:

We have an Alzip playmat (New Eco Silion SG Modern Grey Dual Playmat) from Le Petit, the official US distributor of Alzip. They shipped the item from Korea after we made the order, so it took almost 2 months for us to receive it. The same Alzip playmat can be purchased from Amazon: https://amzn.to/37eFyCu. We put the pillows from our couch around the playmat. Before putting those pillows, Therese was free to explore the whole area. I put some bumpers on the edge of our bookcases for protection.

The first day I put the pillows around the playmat, Therese “escaped” from it very soon when I was working in the kitchen area (we have an open floor plan on the second floor). I just laughed when I saw she’s sitting besides the pillows outside of the playmat. She’s like “where am I now?”

After:

We switched the Comfort Design playmat from her bedroom with the Alzip playmat as the Alzip one is too large for the Baby Care Playmat Playpen. Therese enjoys her play space a lot!
